After two seasons at Florida, renowned defensive backs coach Corey Raymond is reportedly heading back to familiar territory.
According to multiple reports tonight, Raymond is heading back to LSU in a move that makes so much sense for all involved.
He previously worked with the secondary in Baton Rouge for over a decade in various capacities from 2012-21.
During his time with the Tigers, Raymond recruited and developed some of the best defensive backs in the game including names like Eric Reid, Tyrann Mathieu, Jamal Adams, Greedy Williams, Grant Delpit, and Derek Stingley Jr..
In total he had 14 players from the secondary selected in the NFL draft, including three in the first round and five in the second round.
Raymond also has previous stops working with the secondary at Nebraska and Utah State and actually began his college coaching career at LSU as an intern in 2006.
After a season interning, Raymond spent two seasons working as an assistant strength coach with the Tigers before departing for Utah State.
He joins an impressive revamped defensive staff in Baton Rouge that includes Blake Baker, Kevin Peoples, and Bo Davis.
There is a lot of money being invested on the defensive side of the ball, as Baker signed a three-year deal averaging $2.5 million annually, and Davis and Raymond were among the highest paid assistants at their positions at their previous institutions.
