Dana Holgorsen shares the toughest thing about coaching happens Saturdays after games (Todd Graham)

Dana Holgrosen spent the past 13 seasons as a head coach between stops at West Virginia and Houston where he put together a record of 92-69 at both stops.

Holgo and Houston parted ways in late November last year after a 4-8 debut season as a Big 12 member, and Houston agreed to pay a nearly $15 million buyout.

This off season, Holgorsen shared that he visited 8 or 9 different programs either while on vacation or on a quest for knowledge. He ultimately decided to join the staff of Sonny Dykes at TCU, where he will spend his time as a consultant studying offenses to help the Horned Frog defensive staff.

Holgo recently sat down in front of the press for the first time in his new role at TCU and reflected on his time as a head coach and how big support staffs have become, noting that the hardest thing to do has nothing to do with game prep, it's actually something that takes place after games on Saturdays.

"I'll tell you the hardest thing in coaching is when the game is over on Saturday, turning that page. That is challenging."

"Back in the day, I didn't have any help. I would get a depth chart on Sunday with a stack of VHS game videos and you had to kind of figure it out and it took you days to figure out what their personnel is, and what their schemes are and all that."

"Having advanced scouting now and extra personnel and extra coaches on the field, it is going to allow you to turn the page quicker and to be more prepared going into the next week."

The decision by Dykes to bring two former head coaches with deep experience on each side of the ball to assist with the opposite sides of the ball (Holgo on defense and former Arizona State head coach Todd Graham on offense) is something Holgo said was "brilliant," because it doesn't make any of the current staff uncomfortable or nervous.

Those two former head coaches will now be able to use that experience to make Dykes' role as the CEO of the Horned Frogs program just a little bit eaiser.
