Danny Rocco has set his coaching staff for the 2024 season, with several adjustments and promotions.
Patrick Ashford returns for his fourth season on staff, and third as the Keydets' offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Rich Yahner will be VMI's defensive coordinator and linebackers coach, his second season with the staff.
Greg Wood returns for his second season as special teams coordinator while taking on duties as director of player personnel. He joined the staff in 2022 as specialists coach and video coordinator, and was promoted to special teams coordinator in 2023.
After one season as cornerbacks coach in which VMI led the SoCon in pass defense, Pat Brown has been promoted to defensive pass game coordinator and secondary coach with continued emphasis on the corners.
Dae'lun Darien has been promoted to assistant secondary coach with emphasis on the safeties. He was a volunteer assistant last season.
Wide receivers coach/recruiting coordinator AJ Hampton has been promoted to pass game coordinator.
Tight ends coach Greg Meyer has added assistant head coach duties.
Elliot Wratten joins the staff as offensive line coach. He previously served as Alcorn's offensive coordinator and offensive line coach.
JB Lageman continues in his third season as defensive line coach, adding run game coordinator duties.
Running backs coach Keith Jones adds run game coordinator responsibilities.
Head strength and conditioning coach Ellis Spratlin is also now Rocco's chief of staff.
Peter Capone has been hired as director of football operations after serving in the same role at Marist for the past two seasons.
VMI is heading into its second season under Rocco's leadership. The Keydets went 5-6 in 2023, and opened spring practice last Tuesday.
