Daren Wilkinson will not return at Texas A&M-Kingsville

Daren Wilkinson will not return as the head coach at Texas A&M-Kingsville, the program has announced.

Wilkinson has been A&M-Kingsville's head coach for the past five seasons, going 21-35 during that time. The Javelinas went 9-3 and won the Live United Bowl in 2016 but slipped to 4-7 in 2017 and '18, and closed a 2-9 season with a 70-14 loss to UT-Permian Basin on Saturday.

Texas A&M-Kingsville is a Division II school that competes in the Lone Star Conference.

A national search for a new head coach will commence immediately and will be conducted by Parker Executive Search, the school said in its statement on Monday.

Prior to Kingsville, Wilkinson was the offensive coordinator at Colorado State-Pueblo and spent five seasons as the quarterbacks coach at Colorado State.
