David Shaw reportedly set to interview for NFL head coaching vacancy

David Shaw's legacy as a college head coach leading the Stanford program was nothing short of impressive.

HIs 2015 team finished ranked 3rd in the country, and he won double-digit games in five of his first six seasons, including his debut season in 2011 taking over for Jim Harbaugh.

Perhaps even more impressive than all of that is the fact that, despite losing seasons in three of his final four seasons leading the Cardinal, he continues to draw interest for NFL head coaching openings.

Jane Slater from the NFL Network shared today that Shaw will interview for the head coaching opening with the Saints.

A very well thought of coach and leader of men, Shaw is currently with the Denver Broncos as a senior personnel executive.

Earlier in his career, Shaw spent time in the NFL, coaching the Raiders quarterbacks before also coaching the quarterbacks and receivers for the Ravens before linking up with Harbaugh at San Diego (FCS) as pass game coordinator and then Stanford as offensive coordinator.

The Saints are seeking a new leader following the dismissal of Dennis Allen back in early November after losing their seventh straight game to drop to 1-7 on the year. He was 18-25 overall.

Darren Rizzi, the team's special teams coordinator, stepped in and led the team to a 5-12 overall record.

The coming days will be filled with who teams are requesting interviews with, and certainly not the most attractive of the jobs on the market, it will nonetheless be interesting to see who the Saints bring in, and if Shaw and his history with quarterbacks like Andrew Luck and Davis Mills will be enough to land the job.
