Steven Jackson, a well-respected assistant head coach at Davidson who's beloved by peers throughout football, remains in critical condition following a harrowing automobile accident Wednesday.
A former NCAA Division II All-America selection during his playing days at Shepherd University, Jackson was in an auto accident early Wednesday morning in Huntersville, N.C., that necessitated multiple EMS responses and required personnel to cut into an automobile to "extricate" a person who was pinned in the car.
On staff at Davidson nearly six years, Jackson was promoted three years ago to the role of assistant head coach in 2021; he's also served as the Wildcats' special teams coordinator and defensive run game coordinator.
A 2022 FootballScoop Minority Rising Stars honoree, Jackson has friends throughout the coaching community because of his approachable nature and constant time to help others.
Numerous coaches reached out to FootballScoop after the news of Jackson's accident, and the Davidson community has established a GoFundMe account to help with the ongoing medical costs as Jackson fights to recover.

"(I) and Davidson football appreciate the outpouring of prayers and love for the Jackson family," Davidson head coach Scott Abell said in a statement. "We ask that you continue to keep them in your hearts and prayers."
