Deion Sanders calls out Colorado players after their slow start: I'm sick of it ... I really am (Stanford)

Colorado, now, has quadrupled its win total from a season ago -- and thus Deion Sanders now has four wins in his debut campaign as head coach of the Buffaloes.

But Coach Prime hardly was in a jovial mood Saturday night after his Colorado team needed Alejandro Mata's game-winning, 43-yard field goal to get past Arizona State, 27-24.

Arizona State had 59- and 66-yard first-half scoring drives but Sanders also was supremely irked by the Sun Devils's 94-yard drive in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 24-all. ASU also had led 17-14 at halftime.

"Sick of it. I really am. I'm sick of us coming out here and putting forth the effort we put forth in the first half," Coach Prime said. "We've had really diligent meetings and we're trying to figure this out, ‘cause I'm sick of it. I'm sorry. I'm happy about the win, but I'm not happy in the fashion that we won it in.

"We're better than that. We really are better than that, and we gotta start showing that. I expect to win and I expect to win in a better fashion than that. I'm sick of these consistent holes that we're displaying and the penalties and the things that we're doing.

"We're so much better. I apologize for my anger today, but I don't accept mediocrity. Maybe you do. Maybe you can live with it. Maybe you sleep with it. Maybe you lie with it. Maybe you're comfortable with it, but I'm not."

Nor is Deion Sanders comfortable with the punishment his son and Colorado star quarterback Shedeur Sanders is absorbing on a weekly basis from the Buffaloes' offensive line.

Arizona State sacked Shedeur Sanders five times and registered six quarterback hurries; the Buffaloes have allowed 31 sacks -- 129th out of 130 Football Bowls Subdivision teams.

"He’s mad. He’s upset with the way this looks. He’s upset with the way it’s going," Coach Prime said of Shedeur Sanders, who had 239 passing yards and a touchdown while he also ran for 34 yards and a score. "He’s upset with hit after hit after hit.

"You think he’s happy being the most-sacked guy in college football? And he’s still doing what he’s capable of doing? He’s sick of it."

Colorado has a short week to fix its issues that Deion Sanders outlined. The Buffaloes host Pac-12 foe Stanford Friday night.
