Details of Jedd Fisch's contract at Washington (Arizona)

After rebuilding Arizona from 1-11 in his first season to a top 11 ranking and 10-win season by his third year in Tucson, Jedd Fisch has inked a seven-year deal to take over Washington, who is fresh off an appearance in the national championship game.

Details of Fisch's deal have come to light over the past 12 hours or so, as Mike Vorel has shared.

The new leader of the Huskies will make an average of $7.75 million annually, starting off with $7.5 million his first year and escalating to $7.95 million in the final year of the deal.

That salary will put him among the top half of coaches in the new-look Big Ten.

That's a marked increase from the $4.2 million they paid Kalen DeBoer last season. DeBoer recently left to succeed Nick Saban at Alabama, where he's set to make in the ballpark of $10 million annually.

Fisch will be eligible for up to $1.55 million in bonuses annually, Steve Berkowtiz points out, and Washington is covering the $5.5 million buyout he owes for leaving Arizona.

His buyout total starts at $12 million if he were to leave before January 8, 2025, and decreases to $10 million by the same date in 2026, $6 million by 2027, $5 million by 2028.

The buyout drops to $3 million by January 8, 2029, and down to $1 million by 2030 to nothing owed by the same date of 2031.

At Arizona, Fisch's original contract called for him to make $3.4 million this fall, and that was set to increase considerably after the success they had this past fall.
