South Carolina's board of trustees have approved a five-year deal for new head coach Shane Beamer, according to multiple reports today.
Those reports share that the deal will pay him an annual salary of $2.75 million.
That salary would be the lowest among the 13 SEC programs that publicly report their salaries. The next closest in salary is Sam Pittman at Arkansas, who makes a half million more annually at $3 million. The Gamecocks are on the hook to Will Muschamp for over $15 million in buyout money, per his contract.
If fired, Beamer would be due 65% of his contract by South Carolina.
Beamer was officially announced as the new leader of the program earlier in December after spending the last few seasons as the assistant head coach and tight ends coach under Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma.
We'll bring more details of the contract, including more on the buyout terms and incentives, as they're revealed.
