Yes, it's really happening.
That's the message of the first official teaser dropped by the new college football video game, EA Sports College Football 25. In fact, those words appear on the screen in the name plate of a generic college football jersey: "Yeah, It's Really Happening."
The 93-second video includes precious little game play, but there is some. Instead, it's merely confirmation that, quieting the rumors, the game will come out this summer, with the promise of a full trailer some time in May.
EA announced the revival of its college football video game series way back on Feb. 2, 2021. College Football 25 is being built entirely from scratch, carrying zero code over from the NCAA Football series or Madden. That, obviously, takes time. And all the while, the ground has been shifting beneath their feet; when the game was announced, the NIL era hadn't yet begun and the Pac-12 still existed.
And so in the three years of building, EA went dark. Into that vacuum went speculation, fear and rumors that game wouldn't ultimately happen. That fear reached a fever pitch last month, when a rumored teaser during the CFP national title game didn't happen.
But fear not. The game is real, and it's happening.
