AD Scott Wetherbee on Sunday issued an apology both to and on behalf of the Eastern Michigan community after an Eagles player sucker-punched a counterpart following Saturday night's game.
In video shown below, EMU Korey Hernandez attempted to do what he and his teammates could not accomplish during Saturday's 68 Ventures Bowl, as he attacked an unidentified South Alabama player while he and his teammates sang the school's alma mater.

"I didn't see things when they happened," Eastern Michigan coach Chris Creighton said after the game "But I definitely saw the intensity of what had just happened. We had a really good, long talk in the locker room afterwards. We want to be first-class all the time, no matter the circumstances, no matter what the scoreboard is, no matter what other factors, people, whatever are involved. And anything short of being first-class is not living up to the standard that we have in Eastern Michigan football."
Wetherbee's statement is below.
South Alabama won the game, 59-10.
