Family of former New Mexico lineman who committed suicide now suing Bob Davie (Bob Davie)

University of New Mexico defensive lineman Nahje Flowers took his life in November. Now, his family is suing then head coach Bob Davie.

According to a lawsuit filed today, Davie ignored Flowers' pleas for help in his battle with depression. The family claims Davie overruled a therapist's recommendation that Flowers take some time away from football. Days later Flowers took his own life.

The family claims Davie was very disrespectful to them after Nahje's death. At one point they claim Davie "walked up on" the former player's mother before a family member stepped in.

As with any lawsuit it is wise to recognize that what we have read here is only one side of the story; but this whole thing is a sad and strange read.

Davie stepped down in November, having won 35 games in eight seasons as head coach at New Mexico.

It is unclear why the NCAA would be a party to such a suit.
