Bobby Hauck, who's guided Montana to four appearances in the FCS Championship, is added one of football's veteran-most coaches to his Grizzlies staff.
Scott Linehan, former St. Louis Rams head coach and longtime NFL assistant with franchise stops that included the Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings and Miami Dolphins, among others, has joined the Montana coaching staff as an offensive analyst.
While working for the Griz under offensive coordinator Brent Pease, Linehan will serve as an offensive analyst for the program.
Pease, of course, is a beloved former Montana player who has captured significant coaching experience throughout his career, including offensive play-caller stops in the SEC at Kentucky and Florida, as well as time at Baylor.
Linehan also will work opposite his son, Mike Linehan -- Montana's defensive line coach.
Another son, Matt Linehan, coaches wideouts at Big Sky program Idaho under head coach Jason Eck.
Though the elder Linehan spent almost two consecutive decades in the NFL, climbing the ranks to an eventual three-year run atop the Rams, he's more recently focused his coaching efforts in the Southeastern Conference.
He served on Ed Orgeron's final LSU staff in 2021 and then spent time since then as an offensive analyst for Eli Drinkwitz and Missouri.
Montana is coming off an FCS runner-up finish in its 2023 campaign, falling in the title game to two-time defending champion South Dakota State.
The Griz have averaged more than 10 wins per season and advanced to at least the second round of the FCS Playoffs in each of their past four full campaigns under Hauck.
Montana is scheduled to open its 2024 season Aug. 31 against Missouri State.
