Florida suspends football activity indefinitely after numerous positive COVID tests

The University of Florida has announced that it has indefinitely suspended all football activities following recent COVID outbreak.

Gator football reportedly has 25 new positive COVID cases within the last week, bringing the program to 31 cases total for the month of October. 50 players are now in quarantine.

Head coach Dan Mullen announced Saturday that he also tested positive along with two other assistant coaches.

According to Florida Athletic Director Scott Stricklin, they have been unable to pinpoint the start of the outbreak.

Due to the outbreak, Florida was forced to postpone their games against both LSU and Missouri. Florida was slated to play LSU this past weekend, that game has already been postponed to December 12th. The gators are currently scheduled to play Missouri on October 31st.

The team is off this weekend.

If Florida is unable to curtail this spread among the players, additional postponements could impact the Gators' ability to play a "full" season as every remaining weekend is currently scheduled.
