It's mid-November, the time when titans collide. Division titles, conference championships, major bowl berths -- the type of things that echo for decades upon decades afterward -- all of them are up for grabs. History is right there for the taking. Two greats enter, but only one survives.
I'm talking, of course, about Saturday night's epic UCLA at Utah game, where, at 8 p.m. ET on Fox, the Pac-12 South crown could very well be decided. Kyle Whittingham's Utes stride in at 8-1 overall and 5-1 in conference play, fully in control of their Pac-12 fate with an eye on a College Football Playoff berth.
But Chip Kelly's Bruins also control their own Pac-12 destiny. They aren't yet bowl eligible and won't be even with a win, but a team that started 1-5 has now won three straight and, with trips to Utah and USC in the next two weeks, UCLA can take control of the South with victories. Win those (plus the finale over Cal) and they'll head to the Pac-12 Championship at 7-5.
That's what dreams are made of, right?
