Former Charlotte head coach Will Healy joins UCF staff (will healy)

Former Charlotte head coach Will Healy has joined UCF's staff, Gus Malzahn announced Monday.

Healy will be a senior offensive analyst and an advisor to the head coach.

The 38-year-old Healy spent the past four seasons as the 49ers' head coach, going 15-24. He rose to prominence during a 3-year run at Austin Peay, where he guided the most down-trodden program in FBS to a remarkable turnaround. Riding a 27-game losing streak into the 2017 season, Austin Peay went 8-4 and finished second in the Ohio Valley Conference.

He was named the Ohio Valley and Eddie Robinson coach of the year for his efforts that season.

The former Air Force and Richmond quarterback jumped into coaching as the wide receivers coach at Chattanooga from 2009-15.

He'll join a Knights staff looking to improve upon a 9-5 showing and an AAC runner-up finish last season. UCF will play its first season in the Big 12 this fall.
