After losing offensive coordinator Sonny Cumbie to Texas Tech, Gary Patterson is adjusting his staff from within.
Inside receivers/tight ends coach Doug Meacham will hold inherit the offensive coordinator title and analyst Kenny Hill will be elevated to quarterbacks coach. Hill played quarterback at Texas A&M and TCU, finishing his career in 2017.
After a brief professional career, Hill returned to Fort Worth as a student assistant in 2018, moved to GA in 2019 and then became an analyst in 2020.
TCU will return Jerry Kill as special assistant to the head coach -- Gary Patterson dubbed him "head coach of the offense" -- and former Pittsburg State (D-II - KS) head coach Tim Beck as as analyst.
"It was easy for me to be able to hire a younger guy like Kenny with having two guys like that who are behind the scenes that can help mature all the little things so we don't miss out on the little details," Patterson told Texas Football. "But we have a guy who is a great recruiter and has a great relationship with Max [Duggan]. That was an easy decision."
The remainder of TCU's offensive staff remains intact. Malcolm Kelly (two years on staff) and Bryan Applewhite (one) are set to return as outside receivers coach and running backs coach, while offensive line coach Jarrett Anderson is back for his 24th season with the program.
TCU won five of its last six games in 2020 and returns Duggan as a third-year starter. The Horned Frogs also secured Chandler Morris as a transfer out of Oklahoma and signed a whopping three quarterbacks in their 2021 class.
