Georgia State adds former NFL head coach to staff

Dell McGee has assembled an impressive coaching staff at Georgia State that includes former Power Five coordinators (Jim Chaney, Kevin Sherrer, Dameyune Craig) along with a former Group of Five head coach (Will Healy).

Now he's also added a former NFL head coach as well.

Hue Jackson, the former head coach of the Browns and Raiders, has joined McGee's staff in the role of assistant general manager.

Jackson most recently served as the head coach at Grambling State (FCS), but he was let go from that post after two seasons back in November after compiling an 8-14 record.

In January, Jackson was deep in the process to become the new head coach at Morehouse College, but those talks eventually stalled.

Leading two different NFL franchises in Oakland and Cleveland, Jackson put together a career record of 11-44-1.

This marks Jackson's third straight stop in college football after a long career in the NFL spanning about two decades. Before taking the Grambling job, he was the offensive coordinator at Tennessee State for Eddie George's first season with the program.
