Georgia State reportedly adding former Group of Five head coach to offensive staff (dell mcgee)

Will Healy spent last season in an off-the-field role under Gus Malzahn at UCF, working as the Knights assistant to the head coach and senior offensive analyst.

He's reportedly heading back to an on-field role on the staff being assembled by Dell McGee at Georgia State.

According to a report today from 247, the former Charlotte head coach is expected to join McGee's staff as running backs coach.

Healy went 7-6 and punched a ticket to the Bahamas Bowl in 2019, his first season as an FBS head coach. However, he was unable to sustain that success, going 2-4 in the COVID shortened 2020 season, 5-7 in 2021 and was ultimately dismissed eight games into the 2022 season following a 1-7 start.

Before taking the Charlotte job, Healy led one of the most impressive turnarounds in recent memory at Austin Peay (FCS - TN), going from 0-11 in his debut season to 8-4 and a second place finish in the Ohio Valley in year two.

They experienced a drop to 5-6 in his final year with the program before he left for the FBS level and C-USA.

Just 39 years old, Healy played quarterback at Air Force and Richmond (FCS) before starting his coaching career at UT-Chattanooga, where he coached the receivers for seven seasons before taking over the Austin Peay program.
