Georgia Tech will not only have a new alternate uniform this year, but it will be one with a very special meaning.
As a part of adidas' 2019 Strategy Uniform Series, the Yellow Jackets have partnered with Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Tech was one of the four teams chosen to participate in the new adidas series which will highlight and bring attention to each selected program's community engagement initiatives.
Here's what the announcement from the University shares about the reason behind the partnership.
"Georgia Tech and Children’s are flipping the script on the traditional superhero narrative with the unveiling of the Yellow Jackets’ newest football uniform, which is part of adidas’ 2019 Strategy Uniform series. Throughout the world, children look up to athletes as heroes – but with this uniform, the Jackets honor the true heroes in the Atlanta community, kids that are battling illnesses and injuries at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta."
The uniforms themselves will be an onyx gray (a first for the program) with hexagon patterns and metallic gold accents with a crest on the back of the uniform honoring Cape Day, an annual tradition in Atlanta that honors the kids fighting for their health.
Special details on the helmet and shoes the team will wear will be shared closer to the October game day against North Carolina.

This is a really cool idea by adidas, and something that can really be embraced nationally.
