Yesterday, PJ Smith of Rivals tweeted out this image of what the depth chart of the national title teams looks like when you take into account their former Rivals.com star rankings.
In total, there are a lot more three-star starters (17) for both teams, than five-star (3) guys, which just goes to show you how inexact a science the star ratings are, and how important it is that you find the right fit for your staff and program.
OREGON OFFENSE: Four three-star players (including Heisman trophy winner Marcus Mariota), and seven four-star starters.
OHIO STATE DEFENSE:Three five-star starters, seven four-stars, and one three-star.
EDGE: Normally, I'd say the edge goes to where the blue-chip guys are, but when you've got a three-star recruit that's been molded into a Heisman Trophy winner the pendulum swings back in your favor.
OHIO STATE OFFENSE:Six three-star players, five four-star starters
OREGON DEFENSE:One two-star, six three-stars, four four-star starters
EDGE: On paper, the edge has to go to the Ohio State offense here.
Overall: Let's just wait until Monday night and let them sort this out on the field. Free booze and plenty of networking opportunities with the big game on at Tavern on 4th for the annual FootballScoop party.
