Group of 5 Coaches Poll - Week 5 (Group Of 5 Coaches Poll)

FootballScoop, partnering with Athlon Sports, is proud to present the Group of 5 Coaches Poll.

Each week, every head coach in the American, Conference USA, MAC, Mountain West and Sun Belt has the opportunity to vote his belief on the best teams among the Group of 5.

Five weeks in, one percentage point separates Boise State and UNLV as they sit atop the FootballScoop Group of 5 Coaches Poll. They meet on the field in three weeks to settle things.

Oh, and did we mention that James Madison is out here just wrecking people? After hanging 70 on North Carolina, JMU strolled out and dropped 63 on Ball State, good enough to jump Liberty for the No. 3 spot in the rankings. ULM, off to an impressive 3-1 start, is up next for JMU.

Army and Navy remain undefeated on the gridiron and in real life.

Tulane rolled over South Florida now sits just behind Army at No. 8. Sam Houston, a comeback winner over previous No. 9 Texas State, jumped into the poll at No. 10, while North Texas debuted at No. 12. Northern Illinois, the No. 3 team in the Group of 5 following the Notre Dame win, has fallen out entirely after consecutive losses to Buffalo and NC State.

"Movement in the poll reveals the depth of quality football played in the Group of 5 conferences," FootballScoop president Scott Roussel said. "Jockeying for position will only become more intense as these teams begin battling for their respective conference championships."

During the season, coaches voting will remain anonymous.
