Bobby Bentley and Gus Malzahn previously worked together early on in Malzahn's tenure at Auburn when Bentley took an analyst job with the Tigers.
Bentley would go on to coach in a variety of on-field roles at South Carolina and South Florida.
Last night, the UCF announced that the accomplished veteran coach and Malzahn will reunite at UCF.
Bentley was announced in the role of analyst for the Knights.
After leading James F. Byrnes HS (SC) to four straight state titles from 2002-05, which marked his last years leading the program after taking it over in 1995, Bentley left for the head coaching opportunity at Presbyterian College.
There, he helped the program transition from Division II to FCS, and went 6-5 in his first season, followed by a 4-8 season in 2008.
He left there for a one-season stint back at James F. Byrnes HS before making the jump to the major college level at Auburn with Malzahn.
Most recently, he has coached the running backs at South Carolina (2016-18), then the Gamecocks tight ends for a few seasons (2019-20). He spent the last two seasons at South Florida as wide receivers coach / pass game coordinator.
