Hawaii adds two coaches to the defensive staff

Head coach Timmy Chang has added two coaches to his defensive staff.

Jordan Pu'u-Robinson, who spent the past two seasons with the team before accepting a full-time coaching job at The Citadel (FCS) back in January, has been brought back as defensive ends coach, while Steven Irvin has been brought in as the new corners coach for the program.

Pu'u-Robinson previously served as a graduate assistant working with the Rainbow Warrior defensive line his first year before moving to special teams and tight ends as quality control coach last fall.

A former Hawai'i player, Pu'u-Robinson initially went to Washington State before returning to play for his home state team for his final three seasons of eligibility. He got his coaching start at Mercer (FCS) in 2020 in a quality control role before joining the Hawai'i staff.

At The Citadel, he was brought on board as defensive line coach.

Irvin arrives at Hawai'i after previously spending the last three seasons coaching the linebackers at the University of San Diego (FCS) during his second stint with the program.

He brings with him over two decades of experience coaching at the college level including major college stops at San Diego State and UNLV, and nearly half of that took place at USD, where he also served as defensive coordinator for five seasons during his first tour with the program.
