Oklahoma State had a break from its trying season on Saturday, but head coach Mike Gundy still took one on the chin even when his team wasn't playing.
Higher up on the face, actually.
Off duty as the head Cowboy, Gundy spent some time trying to be a small-C cowboy and, well, I'll let him take it from here.
"Well, I had a little run in with my cattle over the weekend. I guess they've been watching us play, and (I) got head-butted. So, I've got a bad eye that I didn't think would be particularly enjoyable for people to look at my pretty face in a live interview.
"More importantly, it's full of blood and I get dizzy, so it's not easy to be upright and be in normal function. But other than that, I'm doing great."
Other than difficulty being "upright" and "in normal function," Gundy is doing absolutely swell.
This weekend was not the first time Gundy has returned to his day job with a tale of a run-in with wildlife, although it was the first time he took a loss. Recall in 2017 when he regaled the media with his rattlesnake-killing technique.
At 3-3 overall and tied for last in the Big 12, Oklahoma State resumes its season Friday night at No. 13 BYU (10:15 p.m. ET, ESPN).
