Houston coaching icon Bill Yeoman has passed (Bill Yeoman)

Please join us in praying for the family of former Houston head coach Bill Yeoman. Coach Yeoman passed away earlier today at age 92, his family shared. Mark Berman was among the first to share the news.

Coach Yeoman is best known for being the longtime head coach at Houston, where he led the Coogs from 1962-86. Over that span with the program, Yeoman went 160-108-8 and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2001.

While he led the team to 7 wins in his first season as head coach, the program really took off when Yeoman adopted the veer. In the late 60s they led the nation in total offense for three straight years, averaging over 400 yards per game, rewriting a number of records along the way.

After a 1-10 campaign in 1986, Yeoman was forced into retirement. All told, he coached nearly 50 All Americans and developed nearly 70 players that went on to play in the NFL.

Prior to his time leading the Houston program, he spent a handful of seasons as an assistant coach at Michigan State under the legendary Duffy Daugherty.

Please keep the Yeoman family in your prayers during this difficult time.
