TJ Rushing spent the last four seasons at Texas A&M with Jimbo Fisher and is now poised to join another SEC program.
Matt Zenitz shares today that the former Aggies defensive backs coach is expected to join the Auburn staff.
The report adds that his role will be a special assistant.
After a handful of the seasons in the NFL with the Colts and Lions following a career at Stanford that saw him picked in the 7th round of the 2006 NFL Draft, Rushing got his start in the coaching profession as a graduate assistant at Arizona State.
He spent one season in that role before moving to a quality control role and landed his first on-field job at the FCS level with Northern Arizona in 2015.
That lasted just one season, as the very next season he was back in Tempe as the Sun Devils defensive backs coach.
After two seasons in the Pac-12, he took the Memphis defensive backs job before joining Jimbo Fisher in College Station in 2020.
At Auburn, he reunites with DJ Durkin, who spent the past two seasons at Texas A&M as their defensive coordinator, and a defensive staff filled out with former Colorado defensive coordinator Charles Kelly, as well as Josh Aldridge, Vontrell King-Williams, and Wesley McGriff.
