Offensive line guys are going to love this one.
While on the New Heights podcast alongside Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and Eagles center Jason Kelce, Andy Reid provided a soundbyte that will soon make the walls and lockers of offensive line coaches across the country.
While talking about his early days as an offensive line coach, and wanting to be "the best offensive line coach who ever lived," Reid says he was encouraged to continue to evolve by moving to tight ends and then quarterbacks, where he mentored Brett Favre in Green Bay. Once he started working with Favre and having a bigger say in the Packers offense, Reid had a pretty good feeling the opportunity to become a head coach was just around the corner.
Asked by Jason Kelce if being an offensive line coach helped his rise in coaching, Reid shared some insight that offensive line coaches are going to eat up.
"If you can coach the offensive line, you can coach anything," Reid answers.
When asked why he says that, Reid's responds, "because it's an abnormal position. When you come out [of the womb], eventually you're going to run - you're going to crawl, you're going to walk, and then you're going to run."
"But you're not going to be in a three-point stance."
Hear that, and more from Reid's appearance with the Kelce brothers in the clip.
