Indiana hires strength coach away from NFL team (aaron wellman)

After David Ballou got called up to the big leagues -- the big leagues being Alabama -- Indiana has found its new strength coach.

According to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post, Indiana has hired New York Giants head strength coach Aaron Wellman to run its strength and conditioning program.

Indiana has not confirmed the hire as of this writing, but Wellman's bio has already been removed from the Giants' website.

Wellman and his wife Shellie are both IU graduates, and he got his start as a graduate assistant at his alma mater in 1997. Wellman took over the Hoosiers' strength program in 1998, but the job (and the paycheck) he returns to is much different than the one he had 22 years ago. Ballou made $400,000 at Indiana last year.

Wellman worked at Michigan and Notre Dame in between IU and the Giants.
