Hear Iowa players talk about their tight 13-10 win over Nebraska last night and its clear that some disrespect from the visiting team helped fuel the Hawkeyes in their win.
It started during warmups, when Matt Rhule reportedly walked right through Iowa's warm up.
That did not go unnoticed.
Then, at the pregame coin flip, the Huskers turned down the customary handshake between two teams.
Although the first half started great for the Huskers, who headed into the locker room with a 10-0 lead, I can't think of a situation where it works out well for the team refusing to shake hands. That move always seems to backfire.
After the game started, Jay Higgins shares that during the first series he found himself on the Nebraska sidelines after a play, and mentioned to Matt Rhule that "it might not have been a good idea to not shake their hands," and Rhule responded with "Who are you?"
Higgins, who ranks among the top 10 nationally in tackles, ended the game with a team high 12 tackles with a tackle for a loss to his name as well in the win.
As Higgins and teammate Nick Jackson share, it was the disrespect felt that helped fuel their second-half surge with 10 of their points coming in the final quarter in the Hawkeyes win over the Huskers to improve to 8-4.
"Would Kirk Ferentz ever do something like that? No. That's amazing to us, come to Iowa," the two close the clip sharing.
