Nathan Scheehaase has spent the last seven seasons on staff at Iowa State, and the past two seasons as their offensive coordinator.
According to multiple reports today, he's leaving Ames for an opportunity in the NFL.
Scheelhaase is joining Sean McVay's staff with the Rams as their pass game specialist. Adam Schefter was first to share the news.
The former Illinois quarterback has drawn interest from NFL teams the last few seasons, and now appears set to take an opportunity at the next level.
Scheelhaase has long been viewed as a rising star in the profession, and was a finalist for the FootballScoop Wide Receivers Coach of the Year Award in 2022, and was also a 2019 selection of the AFCA for their 35 Under 35 program.
In his seven seasons in Ames, Scheelhaase has coached running backs, receivers, and served as run game coordinator prior to his promotion to offensive coordinator prior to the 2023 season.
The move marks the 52nd offensive coordinator change at the FBS level this off season. Keep track of all of them via our Offensive Coordinator Tracker page here.
