Jake Kostner no longer on Central Michigan staff (Jake Kostner)

Former quarterbacks coach Jake Kostner is no longer on Central Michigan's staff, the program confirmed to The Athletic on Sunday. His bio was removed from CMU's official athletics website on Friday.

The news comes after The Athletic obtained a letter from Kostner dated Aug. 31 tendering his resignation as of Sept. 15.

“Please accept this letter as my notice that I have made the decision to part ways with CMU to pursue other opportunities,” he wrote. “My final day will be September 15th, 2024.”

FootballScoop previously reported back in July that Kostner had been replaced by director of football operations John Leister as the Chippewas' interim quarterbacks coach, and that he was not expected to remain on the staff.

That news came within a week of Michigan receiving its NCAA Notice of Allegations and days after Netflix released "Untold: Sign Stealer" a documentary focused on Connor Stalions. The pivotal scene in the film shows Stalions unconvincingly denying he attended the 2023 Central Michigan-Michigan State game in disguise on the Chippewas' sideline.

Citing the ongoing NCAA investigation, Central Michigan has not commented on its role in the Stalions saga.

Jim McElwain's team defeated San Diego State 22-21 to move to 3-2 on the season on Saturday. The Chips are off this week before returning to MAC play Oct. 12 against Ohio.

As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.
