Texas A&M announced Sunday it has "mutually parted ways" with offensive coordiantor Jake Spavital.
From the university press release:
Texas A&M announced today that offensive coordinator Jake Spavital and the school have mutually decided to part ways. Spavital completed his second season as offensive coordinator in 2015 and his third season as quarterbacks coach.
“I want to thank Jake for his time here and for his important role in our program,” Sumlin said. “He is a bright, young coach with a tremendous future in coaching and we wish him all of the best in his career.”
A national search for a new offensive coordinator is underway.
“I want to thank Coach Sumlin for an amazing opportunity in College Station and I leave here proud of our program and our accomplishments,” Spavital said. “I look forward to the next step in my coaching journey and I wish the Aggies nothing but the best.”
Spavital spent three seasons at Texas A&M, and prior to that worked with Dana Holgorsen at West Virginia, Oklahoma State and Houston. He got his start in coaching as a quality control assistant at Tulsa in 2008.
