After leading James Madison to an 11-1 season in his fifth year, and just their second full season as an FBS member, Curt Cignetti decided to take the Indiana job.
To fill their head coaching opening, JMU turned to successful FCS head coach Bob Chesney of Holy Cross (FCS - MA) who went 44-21 in six seasons.
Chesney also previously had success as the head coach at Assumption (D-II - MA) where he compiled a 44-16 mark.
