James Madison ended North Dakota State's run of FCS national championships last December, and on Monday the Dukes ended the Bison's run atop the FCS preseason poll.
For the first time since 2012, a team other than Fargo's finest is viewed as the top team in FCS heading into the season. North Dakota State came in at No. 2 behind Sam Houston State in the initial 2012 poll; the Bison beat Sam Houston State to win that season's national title.
North Dakota State is also No. 2 in this year's preseason poll. Could history repeat itself in 2017?
