New Mexico State lost 37-10 to Fresno State in the New Mexico Bowl on Saturday, but that's not what bothered Aggies head coach Jerry Kill after the game.
No, what bothered Kill after the game was New Mexico AD Eddie Nunez not letting NMSU inside his school's indoor facility to practice in the days leading up to the game.
"When he won't let us practice in the indoor facility... that's chicken shit," Kill said. "That's my opinion. I get in trouble, I don't give a shit, either. I've got class. I've had class my whole life. And you can ask the college football profession, I've had class. Never been treated like that."
Here's the backstory: At some point over the summer, NMSU quarterback Diego Pavia, an Albuquerque native, was back in his home town and urinated on the midfield logo of the UNM indoor facility. It was his childish way of not getting back at the Lobos for offering him after leading New Mexico Military Institute to a juco national title. The more mature, and more satisfying, way of getting back was his play at UNM back in September: hitting 9-of-14 passes for 203 yards with two touchdowns and no picks while rushing for a game-high 96 yards in a 27-17 Aggies win.
Video of the incident was released after the game, and Kill claimed he was unaware of Pavia's action until the video's release. New Mexico State handled the incident internally, but Kill claimed Saturday that Nunez retaliated against the entire program by initially barring the Aggies from the Lobos' indoor.
If you want to take a toothbrush and clean toilets all the time, that a'int a lot of fun, and do community service. Well, guess what? I hope the AD here gets the same damn discipline with the people around this state that Diego got, because he deserves it," Kill said. "... (Nunez) better be disciplined by this state. If not it's a crime."
THREAD At end of NM Bowl presser, NMSU head coach Jerry Kill went on rant discussing Diego Pavia's incident @ UNM facility, saying he was punished for it. Kill then went on to call out UNM AD Eddie Nunez for not allowing NMSU to practice in indoor facility this week. pic.twitter.com/HlUhf6rT7b

Response> New Mexico AD Eddie Nunez says Jerry Kill's words are "misguided and offensive".
I spoke this morning with New Mexico AD Eddie Nunez, who said UNM did not deny any access to its facilities for bowl participants, has always allowed them as a bowl partner. The assertion UNM would retaliate against NMSU for the Pavia incident is “both misguided and offensive.” https://t.co/oLq9i9OAP4
