Jim Harbaugh and his new staff with the Chargers have gotten off to an impressive 7-3 start.
Their defense, led by first-year NFL coordinator Jesse Minter has led the way, and his immediate impact on that side of the ball has him being talked about as a rising NFL head coaching candidate.
Harbaugh has heard all the praise ranging from fans and the media, and explained in a way that only he can how he's been taught to deal with praise and compliments.
While acknowledging that the words of affirmation can serve as a great motivator to a group of talented guys like they have in LA, he also warned that it can make you soft.
The other side of that coin, is I go back to my college coach in Bo Schembechler and Gary Moeller, who was the defensive coordinator, he would say 'When people are giving you accolades and compliments and telling you you've arrived, kick them in the shins.'"
"You kick them right in the shins. That's what you do. They're trying to make you soft."
That's a heck of a quote. No doubt that football is better with Jim Harbaugh in it sharing quotes like that.
