Longtime FBS assistant named head coach at Ferrum College (ferrum college)

Ferrum College has named former player Kevin Sherman as its next head coach.

Ferrum College is a Division III school located in Ferrum, Va. The Panthers compete in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

Sherman is more than just a former Ferrum Panther, however. The 1992 graduate was a team captain, a team MVP, and a winner of the program's Big Green Award, given to the senior Ferrum football player who "best demonstrates the qualities of courage, hustle and desire as a role model for his fellow teammates." He was inducted into the Ferrum Sports Hall of Fame in 2012.

Following his graduation, Sherman embarked upon a career that established him as a well-regarded wide receivers coach at the FBS level.

He spent the past two years as the wideouts coach at Buffalo, and previously coached the position for Pitt, Purdue, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Ohio.

Sherman replaces Clevie Adams, who retired after four seasons to become the Panthers' AD. Ferrum went 3-7 in 2022.
