When Kirby Smart left Alabama for the head coaching job at Georgia, he had a really good idea of the guys he wanted to bring along with him, although that surely didn't stop coaches from hitting him up about available opportunities to join his staff.
Smart ended up putting together a quality staff that would go on to lead the Bulldogs to an appearance in the College Football Playoff, where they'll play Oklahoma here in a few hours.
So as Smart filled out that first staff, and as he perhaps finds himself with openings in future, coaches may wonder what he looks for in a potential hire. He provided some insight to that over the weekend at their presser.
Smart explains he looks for two things, and they're both pretty cut and dry.
There you have it. If you have aspirations of working on Kirby Smart's staff someday, you better be elite at those two things.
Smart and UGA kick off against Oklahoma tonight at 5pm EST on ESPN.
