Lance Leipold and Kansas reportedly add former Big Ten assistant to staff

The Jayhawks have added former Iowa assistant Kelton Copeland to the staff in Lawrence, according to Pete Thamel.

Thamel adds that Copeland will work as an analyst, where he will work with the receivers.

Kirk Ferentz added Copeland to the Hawkeyes staff prior to the 2017 season.

Copeland was let go at Iowa back in January as part of the offensive staff overhaul for the Hawkeyes that brought former Western Michigan head coach Tim Lester in as the new offensive coordinator, taking over for Brian Ferentz.

Before joining the program in February of 2017, Copeland spent four seasons at Northern Illinois, where he also served as special teams coordinator. Before moving to the receivers, Copeland worked with the NIU running backs for a few seasons.

He also has previous experience at South Dakota (FCS), Coffeyville CC (JC - KS), Emporia State (D-II - KS), and Northwood (D-II - MI).
