'Last Chance U.' getting its own scripted TV show

Last Chance U. is getting its own scripted TV show. And no, this isn't a show where the junior college players and coaches act out their own television show.

Deadlinereports that Courteney Cox, of Friends fame, will executive produce and star in a drama based on "the real-life trials and tribulations" of Brittany Wagner.

Wagner, of course, was a fan favorite in Seasons 1 and 2 while working as East Mississippi Community College's academic counselor.

Wagner has since left EMCC to go into private business as a motivational speaker and founder of the academic-counseling service 10 Thousand Pencils.

In addition to Cox as executive producer, Michael Strahan's company will produce the show for Spectrum Originals, the in-house studio for the cable service Spectrum.

All other details, such as a name and release date, remain TBD.
