Longest tenured coach in Division I has announced retirement (Jim Parady)

After 33 seasons at Marist (FCS - NY), head coach Jim Parady has announced his retirement.

The Red Foxes went 4-7 this fall.

Parady was the longest tenured coach in all of Division I football, as he took over the Red Fox program back in 1992. He initially joined the staff as offensive coordinator before being elevated after the season following the departure of head coach Rick Pardy for another position.

At the time Parady took over, Marist was a Division III program and he helped lead it as it transitioned to the Pioneer league of the FCS.

Parady won 155 games during his tenure, winning four league titles and multiple Coach of the Year awards.

Coaches that have reached out to share the news of Parady's retirement have shared two common words about his legacy: integrity and character. Two areas Parady led by example with in the countless lives that went through his program.

Associate head coach Scott Rumsey is stepping in as the interim head coach.

Rumsey has been the right hand man of Parady for the past 19 years, while he's held the defensive coordinator title for the past 23 seasons and has been on staff at Marist a total of 26 years.

Marist says a national search will take place to find the next head coach, and Parker Executive Search will assist in that process.
