Back in 1989, Steve Spurrier and Mack Brown faced off as ACC head coaches with Spurrier leading Duke to a 41-0 win over Brown's UNC squad.
Now, with Mack back in the saddle with the Tar Heels after a few seasons out of football, he was asked to reflect on that game and after sharing a story of the two coaches and their wives enjoying dinner together at one point after that 1989 match up, Brown was asked about whether he thinks Spurrier would make a coaching return to the ACC.
...and Mack isn't convinced that the Head Ball Coach is done coaching just yet.
"I don't know. You know, he was coaching in the Alliance and doing a good job there and having a lot of fun with it."
"So I think you can probably count on seeing Steve somewhere else again probably. You never know."
Spurrier did lead the Orlando Apollos earlier this year to a mythical AAF title, and is currently serving in a consultant role for Florida athletics, and can sometimes be seen swinging by and offering some advice to the football staff.
A lot of folks will be rooting for a return to college football for Spurrier, and if Mack Brown doesn't think it's a crazy idea, that's only going to fuel the future speculation.
