Mark Richt will donate $1 million to make Miami's indoor facility a reality (facilities)

The football gods have a sick sense of humor.

Mark Richt campaigned, begged and pleaded for more than a decade for Georgia to build an indoor practice facility. They finally did... and then he got fired.

No matter, Richt quickly found another job at Miami -- where they also lack an indoor facility.

Richt was Charlie Brown, and the football gods were Lucy with the football.

In hopes of avoiding another decade of the same slog he just experienced at Georgia, Richt is putting his money where his mouth is. According to the Palm Beach Post, Richt told a group of 'Canes boosters in Chicago last week he will donate $1 million toward the project.

The project is expected to cost upwards of $20 million and expected within the next two seasons. Miami has not formally announced the project, but it is AD Blake James's top priority, and plans have been shown to donors and recruits.
