Mark Robinson - Football Operations Director of the Year
FootballScoop is proud to announce that Mark Robinson is the 2015 FootballScoop Football Operations Director of the Year presented by ProGrass.
Florida State underwent one of the most significant facilities transformations in college football over the past two years and, in addition to his myriad of regular duties handling operations at a Power 5 football program, Robinson served as head coach Jimbo Fisher's point man for the project. And, by the way, the end result was marvelous.
"Mark is always willing to share ideas and best practices," one operations director said of Robinson. "He's a guy that would be more than happy to give you the shirt off his back if he thought it would help you."
"Mark is a true leader in this profession," said another, noting Robinson had reached out to help him on multiple occasions.
Robinson joined the Seminoles' program in January 2013 and was promoted to assistant athletics director for football prior to this season. He previously spent five years as the DFO at Arkansas and another five as an assistant at Texas A&M. Prior to joining the Aggies' program in 2003, Robinson played offensive line at Appalachian State from 1998-02, where he earned his bachelor's degree in communications and set the school record with a 615-pound squat.
The FootballScoop Coaches of the Year awards presented by ProGrass are the only set of awards that recognize the most outstanding position coaches in college football. The finalists (Michael Hazel [Penn State], Antonio Huffman [Washington State], John Miller [Ole Miss], Mike Parrish [Arizona], Chris Spognardi [Tennessee] and Robinson) were selected based off of nominations by coaches, athletic directors, and athletic department personnel. The prior winners selected this year's winner.
Robinson was recognized at a DFO meeting during the AFCA Convention on Monday.
Previous winners of the Football Operations Director of the Year award are Tom Deahn (Temple, 2009), Mike Kerin (West Virginia, 2010), Mike Sinquefield (TCU, 2011), Matt Doyle (Stanford, 2012), Jason Grooms (Ohio, 2013) and Mack Butler (Oklahoma State, 2014).
