Matt Campbell agrees to contract extension at Iowa State (Iowa State)

Iowa State and Matt Campbell have agreed to a contract extension aimed at keeping him in Ames through the 2025 season.

"I greatly appreciate Dr. (Wendy) Wintersteen's and (Iowa State AD) Jamie's (Pollard) proactive approach to extending my contract," Campbell shared in the school's release. "My staff and I will be on the road this week actively recruiting the next class of Cyclones and it is important for recruits and their families to understand my commitment to Iowa State."

In the past three seasons, following a 3-9 first season, Campbell has led the team to finishes of 8-5, 8-5 and currently sits at 7-5 as the Cyclones waits for their bowl destination. He is 26-24 leading the Cyclones with a ton of momentum after two straight 3rd place finishes in the Big 12.

Campbell's work in Ames has consistently made him a target of other coaching searches. Smart move by Iowa State to get him locked into a new deal.

Details of the deal are yet to be announced, but stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.
