Michigan begins search for new offensive coordinator (Kirk Campbell)

Sherrone Moore has decided to make a change at offensive play caller, parting ways with Kirk Campbell.

Campbell also coached the Wolverine quarterbacks.

"After a thorough assessment of our offense, I made the decision to relieve Kirk Campbell of his duties and move in a different direction," said Moore in a statement

"This was a decision that I felt was in the best interest of our football program. I want to thank Kirk for his hard work and dedication to the university, Michigan Football and our student-athletes. I wish him well in his future coaching endeavors."

The revolving door and inconsistency at quarterback limited Michigan offensively for most of the season, as Davis Warren eventually won the starting job and the former walk-on led the Wolverines to a huge upset over a #2 ranked Ohio State squad last weekend, despite being 20+ point underdogs.

Michigan ended the regular season ranked below Western Michigan, Central Michigan, and Eastern Michigan in scoring offense at 111th nationally, while ranking 69th in rush offense and 130th in passing offense.

Tight ends coach Steve Casula, who joined the program this past off season after serving as the offensive coordinator for Don Brown at UMass, will serve as the team's offensive coordinator on an interim basis.

Casula brings experience from being on the support staff in Ann Arbor during Jim Harbaugh's time leading the program, and also has held the offensive coordinator title at Division II power Ferris State.

The impending hire could not be more important for Moore and the defending national champs, who have a ton of momentum after beating Ohio State for a fourth straight time and have one of the nation's top quarterbacks coming to put on the maize and blue after flipping Bryce Underwood from his LSU commitment.
