R. Amir Gant has blended his career between the collegiate coaching ranks and the prep level, particularly in and around West Tennessee.
After serving as an assistant coach and passing game coordinator at HBCU program Mississippi Valley State University, Gant is returning to the high school landscape.
He's the new offensive coordinator at Lake Cormorant High School in Mississippi, not far from Memphis and the Mississippi-Tennessee state border.
A former prep head coach at Fayette-Ware, Gant also has served as a wide receivers coach at the junior college level for Fort Scott; he also coached at prestigious Memphis-area private school Lausanne Collegiate School.
The MVSU Delta Devils are slated to open their 2024 season on the road Aug. 31 against Eddie George's Tennessee State Tigers in Nashville.
Gant's return to the prep ranks will be marked when the Gators battle Hernando High School in a late-August jamboree and open their season a week later against Lewisburg High School. Lake Cormorant also has key tilts this fall against Horn Lake, South Panola and Southaven, among others.
