Missouri extends the contract of Eli Drinkwitz

One of the game's most vocal and entertaining coaches has finalized an extension.

Eli Drinkwitz, fresh off a big win over Ohio State in their bowl game, has finalized an extension at Missouri that aims to keep him with the Tiger through the 2028 season, and comes complete with a raise.

The SEC Coach of the Year led Mizzou to an 11-2 season in his fourth season with the program.

It marked a breakout year after finishing the regular season at .500 in his first three seasons.

The 2021 and 2022 campaign saw Missouri finish each respective seasons 6-6 before losing in the Armed Forces Bowl (2021) and Gasparilla Bowl (2022).

This season's two losses were a 10-point loss to LSU and a nine-point loss to Georgia.

Specific financial terms of the deal have been disclosed as of yet, but Drinkwitz made $6 million last fall, which was among the lowest paid in the SEC.

This deal will put him "in the upper echelon of SEC head coaching salaries," according to the school's release.

Steve Berkowitz shares that Drink pulled in $400k in bonus money throughout this season, including a $25k bonus for that 11th win in the bowl game.
