NC State's new defensive coordinator reportedly comes with NFL and SEC experience (DJ Eliot)

Dave Doeren's NC State staff is undergoing some sweeping changes and will have a much different look as they enter the 2025 season.

In addition to losing veteran defensive coordinator Tony Gibson to his first head coaching opportunity at Marshall a few weeks back, Doeren also announced a change at offensive coordinator earlier today following one season under Robert Anae, handing the keys to the offense over to Kurt Roper.

Now it appears the Wolf Pack have their new defensive coordinator lined up.

Late tonight Pete Thamel has shared that DJ Eliot is expected to be the new defensive coordinator at NC State.

Most recently the linebackers coach for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023, Eliot brings veteran defensive coordinator experience from the college level.

Prior to joining the Eagles staff, Eliot served as the defensive coordinator for Mark Stoops at Kentucky for a few seasons and then moved on to to call the defense at Colorado, Kansas and Temple.

A well traveled defensive assistant, Eliot has coached at Texas State, Tulsa, Rice and Florida State before getting a chance to call the defense in Lexington.
